In a remarkable stride towards sustainable development and community empowerment, Elens Foundation under the Leadership of Amb Richy Onolememen as the Founder with full sponsorship from Guidotti Group PLC successfully executed its second major outreach; “PROJECT SKILL UP AND SCALE UP” at the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Camp in Kutara Village, Masaka, Nasarawa State.
Building on the impact of its maiden initiative, “PROJECT FEED SOMEONE,” which catered to vulnerable communities in Gwagwalada, FCT, the foundation expanded its humanitarian reach to Nasarawa State with a renewed focus on capacity building, entrepreneurship development, and provision of relief materials.
Led by the Foundation’s President, Amb Lynda Chioma Onwuka, and supported by a dedicated team including Michael B. Legend (Welfare Director), Judith Chisom (Treasurer), and Daniel Ofuani (Membership Coordinator), the initiative brought transformative experiences to over 500 residents of the IDP camp.
Project Highlights:
Empowerment & Skill Acquisition Training:
Elens Foundation curated four strategic training modules tailored to improve the economic resilience of the beneficiaries:
- Chemical Production:
- Photography:
- Baking:
- Handcrafts:
Empowerment & Start-up Support:
Outstanding participants in each category received start-up kits and financial grants to help them launch small-scale businesses. A total of 16 participants received a start up grant each and startup equipment to begin their entrepreneurial journey in their chosen skill area.
Relief Materials Distribution:
In addition to the empowerment training, the Foundation distributed essential food items, including:
- bag of rice
- cartons of Indomie noodles
- dozen soft drinks
- Light refreshments for all participants
This multi-faceted outreach aligns with the United Nations’ 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically:
- Goal 2: Zero Hunger
- Goal 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth
- Goal 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure
Resource Persons and Volunteers who led the training included Pearl Ogunlesi, Ella Iheanacho, Esther Braham, Victoria Young, Adaramola Oluwasheun, Love Onwuka, and Benjamin Ojih, whose collective expertise ensured the smooth delivery of practical knowledge.
