Defence Health Maintenance Limited (DHML) has celebrated Ambassador Richy E. Onolememen as he received an Honorary Doctorate and two major awards at the 2025 Great Achievers Summit and Award of Excellence held on November 22 at the Abuja Continental Hotel.
The ceremony, attended by dignitaries, past alumni, family members and associates, highlighted a man widely regarded as a model of service and integrity.
The MD/CEO of DHML, Surgeon Rear Admiral Azeez Bayo Afolayan (Rtd), described the recognition as a national win, noting that “Ambassador Onolememen represents the kind of leadership Nigeria needs; ethical, compassionate, and committed to impact.”
Ambassador Onolememen was honoured with the Award for Financial Stewardship and the Humanitarian Impact Award, recognitions that underline his contributions to national development, grassroots empowerment, and excellence in leadership. The majestic procession of past awardees added colour to the occasion, celebrating a personality whose work continues to touch lives across sectors.
His dedication to transforming communities, supporting vulnerable groups, and mentoring the next generation was echoed throughout the event. Many described him as a man whose actions speak as loudly as his words, embodying excellence in both financial leadership and humanitarian service.
The summit was organised by the Great Achievers Initiative for Youth and Community Development (GAIYD), a group focused on strengthening the formal and non-formal education of the male child and investing in human capital for a better society.
For many attendees, the celebration stood as a reminder that integrity, service, and selfless leadership still thrive in Nigeria. Ambassador Onolememen’s journey, they said, remains an inspiration to citizens striving to contribute meaningfully to national growth.
